Daigoji temple

About the facility

Daigoji is an ancient temple established in 874. The pagoda was built in 951 and it is the oldest wooden building in the municipality of Kyoto and a national treasure, towering in the vast premises and quietly showcasing the passage of time for over 1,100 years. The temple is also known for warlord Hideyoshi Toyotomi's cherry blossom viewing in 1598.
