Cultural world heritage and national treasure Himeji Castle

About the facility

Built 400 years ago, Himeji Castle is one of the few castles in Japan with its original towers intact.
Aesthetically, it boasts the highest levels of perfection among Japan's wooden structures and became Japan's first UNESCO world cultural heritage site in 1993, due to having one of the most perfected and unique Japanese castle structure for defense purposes.
Its beautiful pure white exterior is often likened to a white heron taking a flight, which is why it is also commonly known as the castle of white heron.
