Arima Onsen
About the facility
Arima Onsen is one of the three oldest onsens in Japan with a long history, and is a rare onsen across the world with no volcanoes nearby.
The water is said to be sea water warmed from over six million years ago, so it contains many ingredients. There are the famous brown Kinsen (golden spring) and clear and non-colored Ginsen (silver spring) with different properties.
Hidden in the deep pocket of Kansai, Arima Onsen was a favorite place for warlord Toyotomi no Hideyoshi, as well as many great writers and prominent figures. Today, visitors can still see the atmospheric onsen town just as it was many decades ago.
