About the facility
The Heisei Chishinkan Wing was designed by Taniguchi Yoshio, known for his redesign of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Gallery of Hōryū-ji Treasures at the Tokyo National Museum. Selected from approximately 15,000 objects in the museum’s collection and on loan, artworks and cultural properties from a wide range of fields—including ceramics, archaeology, painting, sculpture, calligraphy, textiles, metalwork, and lacquer—are presented in rotating thematic exhibitions.
