Shitenno-ji Temple

The first government-aided Buddhist temple in Japan was built in 593 by Prince Shotoku. The central gate, five-story pagoda, Kondo Hall and lecture hall were all built along a straight line in the temple grounds, and this style of layout is called a Shitennoji-style temple layout.
